Digital Arts and Design students at Diamond Oaks Career Campus partnered with the Ohio Army National Guard in December to compete in a campus-wide “Advertising Design” poster contest for a SkillsUSA competition.
Students were given the task of designing a poster to promote awareness of the Ohio Army National Guard and to draw in the viewer with one major goal in mind…. to get the readers to react. “I thought all of the student entries were excellent,” said SSGT Andrew Bischoff, OARNG. “I will be sharing them with our marketing department in hopes that they will be approved for public media use.”
In addition, the plan is to have all of the student’s posters made and displayed throughout all four of the Great Oaks Career Campuses.
The single 1st place winner was Brianna O’Brien from Oak Hills High School. Brianna will represent Diamond Oaks at the SW Ohio Regional SkillsUSA Competition to be held in Kettering on February 8.
Other local winners were Avery Aull, 2nd place; Harley Ray, 3rd place; and Elana Radigan, honorable mention. All are students from Oak Hills High School.
Other SkillsUSA programs at Diamond Oaks held similar competitions within their courses such as welding, electrical systems integration and culinary skills.
SkillsUSA is a national organization for students in career-technical fields.
