Two Exercise Science and Sports Medicine students from Live Oaks Career Campus have used their skills and knowledge to qualify for a trip to Orlando this June. The students earned the chance to attend the International Conference for HOSA—Future Health Professionals based on their performance in the Healthcare Issues state competition.
The students took a test and wrote an essay to demonstrate their knowledge. In Orlando, they will compete with other top students from across the United States.
The top Live Oaks finishers, along with their home school and career program at Live Oaks, were:
Leah Decatur, a senior from Clermont Northeastern, who finished second in the state in the Sports Medicine category.
Maggie Perry, a junior from Goshen, third place in the state in the Job Seeking Skills category.
Great Oaks offers over 30 career programs for high school students, including healthcare programs in Dental Assisting, Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, Health Technology, Secondary Practical Nursing, and Surgical Technology.
HOSA—Future Healthcare Professionals is a national student organization dedicated to healthcare education.
