Short-term healthcare career training programs at Great Oaks Career Campuses start this spring and are designed to help graduates begin work quickly.
In just a few weeks, area adults could be ready for a career as a medical administrative assistant, certified clinical medical assistant, pharmacy technician, health unit coordinator, state tested nurse aide, patient care assistant, or EKG technician.
Programs are offered at several Great Oaks locations, and many of them also include a clinical externship.
The medical administrative assistant program teaches medical terminology, telephone techniques, medical records management, and more. The program is offered evenings at Diamond Oaks Career Campus, 6375 Harrison Avenue beginning in March.
Certified clinical medical assistant training will be held during the day at the Great Oaks Health Professions Academy (HPA) at the OhioMeansJobs Center, 1916 Central Parkway. Students will learn to prepare patients for examination and treatment.
Pharmacy technician classes are held daytimes at the Health Professions Academy (HPA). Students will be prepared to work as pharmacy technicians in a retail or other pharmacy setting.
Health unit coordinators are vital members of the healthcare team and support medical staff, patients and visitors in a hospital setting. The program is offered evenings at Diamond Oaks Career Campus.
State tested nurse aide (STNA) and patient care assistant (PCA) classes are held at the Health Professions Academy. In addition, a 5-week option provides training for both STNA and PCA as well as additional career assistance.
EKG technicans work with patients and perform electrocardiograph and stress testing. EKG technician training is held at the Diamond Oaks and the Live Oaks Career Campus, 5956 Buckwheat Road, Milford.
Information sessions are held at each location during March. For dates, tuition, and other information, go to adults.greatoaks.com.
