Area Great Oaks students outstanding in Business Professionals of America competition

Two dozen Great Oaks students will go to Columbus in March for state Business Professionals of America (BPA) competition after excelling at the regional contest.  Nine students from the Live Oaks campus of Great Oaks and fifteen students from Great Oaks satellite programs at Amelia, Anderson, and Batavia High Schools qualified for the state BPA competition.

 

State-qualifying students include:

 

From the Live Oaks Interactive Media program:  Keri Couch, Sean Farnum, Hannah Henkel, Zach Kimmerly, Matthew Miracle, Amanda Montgomery, and Megan Slusher.

 

From the Live Oaks Business Management and Administrative Services program:  Kris Lane and Brian Tenhundfeld.

 

From Amelia High School:  Kevin Brashear, Spencer Cox, Aaron Fluehr, Louie Furkas, Kara Henning, Andrew Johnson, Michael Lykins, Wes Lukemire, Shannon Maxwell, Neil Patel, Damian Santorelli, and Billy Tumler.

 

From Anderson High School:  Kurtis Polacek and Travis Springer.

 

From Batavia High School:  Melissa Carrigan.

 

In BPA competition, students are given real-life business situations and must, individually or as a team, develop solutions and demonstrate their skills.  Categories cover a wide range of business applications including payroll accounting, graphic design, web design, interview skills, global marketing, human resources, economic research, and other areas.
