Marine Corps junior ROTC Cadets Jonathon Turner, a Pre-Engineering student from Harrison High School and Cadet Christopher Foucht, a Commercial and Residential Electricity student from Oak Hills High School are the first Diamond Oaks JROTC cadets to qualify for the U.S. Eastern Region Air Rifle Championship since the establishment of the JROTC Unit in 1995.
Cadet Turner finished first in the three-state competition which included the states of Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. Cadet Turner ranked 76th nationally out of 828 Cadets at the recent Marine Corps Postal Matches sponsored by the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
Cadet Foucht finished 3rd in the three state competition. Both Cadets have will now move on to the Regional Championship held at Fort Benning, Georgia in which the top eight shooters will be invited to the National Championship at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado.
