Laurel Oaks recently honored Donald Bowling and Amanda Dixon as the October students of the month. Donald is a junior student in the Aviation Program from Mt. Healthy High School. Donald was nominated by his counselor, Valerie Rohrig. “Donald recently donated his hair to Locks of Love. Sometimes teenagers can be very self- involved, so it’s especially neat that he wanted to do something that would benefit someone else. I was impressed with his thoughtfulness,” said Mrs. Rohrig. Donald is also very involved in JROTC. “Donald is very on task with JROTC and is always willing to participate in leadership activities,” said Major Buerki.
Amanda Dixon is a senior student in the Equine Program from Hillsboro High School. Amanda was nominated by Butch Rutledge, her lab instructor. “Amanda is always willing to go the extra mile to help out in lab. She is an FFA officer, Player of the Year for the Southeast District in Golf, and has qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo. She is an excellent student,” commented Mr. Rutledge.
