Joe Pokorny and Jeff Christian - Success Story

Question: What do theater and philosophy majors have in common?

Answer: Carpentry: Qualified Framer Program!

Joe Pokorny and Jeff Christian read about the carpentry program in the Great Oaks' catalogue and knew this was the program for them. Joe earned a philosophy degree and wondered, "Where can I get a job?" Jeff was a theater major for 2 1/2 years and also wondered about job opportunities. Joe graduated from the program in 1997 and eventually became a sub-contractor. Jeff graduated in 2006. Jeff completed the carpentry co-op program with Joe and now works for him full-time. Both graduates love being carpenters and enjoy the freedom and independence it offers. Joe says there will always be a need for carpenters. Both graduates, like many adult students, started down one path and then took a different one. With solid training and experience, they are truly "building on success."
