Marc Johnson brings home Silver

Marc Johnson, a Greenfield McClain High School student who is in the Laurel Oaks masonry program, won a Silver Medal for 2nd place at the Ohio Skills USA: Bricklaying Competition.  The competition was held at the Columbus Fairgrounds on April 29th.

Members  of the Masonry Advisory Committee and instructor Shawn Wilkin rewarded Marc with many  masonry gifts and a plaque during the May 4th  Open House. The plaque was donated by the committee members.

Pictured from left to right: Mr. Wilkin; Dave Taylor, of Snyder Brick and Block; Gary Drake of Reading Rock; Jim McClure, of McClure Masonry; Butch Valentine of Cemex Cement Products; Daryl Igo, of Igo Construction (Marc is currently working three days a week in  an  Apprenticeship Program at Igo Construction); and Paul Brown of EMI Masonry.

The masonry program has 18 Advisory Members, and not all could attend, but they all sent their congratulations to Marc for a job well done.

Great Oaks is proud of Marc and his accomplishments.

Marc's reply is "I'm going for the (gold) next year."
