Alternative School Report
Jon Quatman reported on the successes and lessons learned from the Alternative Center, one of two components of the Achievement Academy. The purpose of the Center is to provide an opportunity for students who have been suspended or expelled to make up assignments, change inappropriate behaviors, and successfully transition back into the classroom. Last year, 95% of the 400 students, who were referred, successfully completed their work and returned to classes. Eighty-two percent of the students were referred only once. This model is being studied to continue making improvements and replicating the lessons learned elsewhere.
