Angelica Kennedy--1994 Administrative Assistant--Milford H.S.

Scarlet Oaks alumna, Angelica Kennedy, helps teens transition to college.

Milford High School graduate and Scarlet Oaks alumna Angelica Kennedy is helping students begin their own career paths. As a college admissions officer at the Raymond Walters College of the University of Cincinnati, she knows firsthand how important a focused education can be.

“Scarlet Oaks provided me with the foundation for learning and for life. It developed a professional attitude and a desire to achieve more,” she stated.

A main part of her role for the college is helping high school students understand the value of developing a well-rounded skill set. “Every employer is looking for students who are prepared with a vocational and academic balance,” Angelica said, adding that Scarlet Oaks gave her that balance.

“I love helping students find the answers,” she continued, and in her diverse role as marketer, recruiter, event planner and counselor, Angelica has that opportunity every day. Her best piece of advice for students who may be struggling in high school: “Don’t give up, keep going. There is always a way – and a person out there to help you.”

“I had a lot of special teachers who impacted my life at Scarlet,” shared Angelica. “Ms. (Melvina) Musgrave was a mother hen, friend and mentor to me – and Mr. Wallace, one of my counselors, always helped me sort things out during the hard times.”

Now the roles are reversed as Angelica assists Mr. Wallace, as he works with Great Oaks students to plan the transition to college.

Angelica completed the Administrative Assistant program at Scarlet in 1994 and is currently working on her Masters in Educational Administration. She plans to combine this program with her love of television and radio to produce educational programs for PBS.
