Career Assessment Evaluation

Program Description: Career Assessment Evaluations are provided to 9th and 10th grade students from the 36 Great Oaks affiliated school districts.  The goals of the assessment are:

q       Administer and score appropriate tests and work samples

q       Identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses relative to career and technical training

q       Recommend matches to career and technical programs based on assessment outcomes

q       Provide a complete assessment of a student’s potential areas of employment based on skills, aptitudes and interests

q       Determine what supports or adaptations may be needed for training and future employment

q       Present the IEP team and/or other family members, school and agency personnel with appropriate and meaningful career planning information

Students from the affiliated schools attend one of the Great Oaks campuses for assessment.  The affiliated school provides transportation.  Each evaluation includes academic tests as well as computerized assessments, interest surveys, aptitude tests, and work samples.  After the assessment, the evaluator develops an individual written report for the student, family, and school personnel.  This is shared in a Post Assessment Conference where assessment feedback is given and the team can begin the career planning process.
