Adapted Career and Technical Programs

Program Description: Great Oaks provides a continuum of options for students with special needs.  There are over forty career and technical programs throughout the four campuses.  Students with special needs are enrolled in each of these programs.  Students with more significant disabilities may find success in one of the adapted career and technical programs.  Students may choose to defer graduation and enter these programs after they have completed all their necessary graduation requirements. These programs are structured to insure success for the students:

 

q       Smaller class size – 8 to 12 students per program

q       Two year program with occupational skills and functional academic curriculum

q       Student participation in community work site rotations

q       Job coach to assist students on work site competencies

q       Assistance with individualized job development and placement 

q       Provision of job coaching during initial phases of employment

q       Coordination of transition and community services including the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission

Eligibility Criteria:

q       Student must be on an IEP

q       Have interests and skills related to the chosen program

q       Have independent transportation provided/coordinated once job placement occurs

q       Desire to work in the community
