Great Oaks Education Foundation Scholarship and Grant Opportunities

The Great Oaks Education Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) federally recognized not-for-profit corporation, provides scholarship and grant opportunities for completers of Great Oaks high school workforce development programs.

 

Scholarships and Grants to Be Awarded

 

Scholarships/Grants to be awarded are as follows:

 

Each campus will select students for the following:

                        1 - $1000. scholarship

                        1 -   $750. scholarship

                        1 -   $500. scholarship

                        3 -   $400. grants

In addition:

Laurel Oaks only                        1 -  $ TBA* Craig Robinson Scholarship

*The amount will be determined based on the amount of money that is raised at the fundraising event held specifically for the benefit of this scholarship.

 

Scarlet Oaks only                   1 - $TBA** James Huelick Scholarship

**Awarded to a Scarlet Oaks Automotive Technology student. The amount is determined annually.

 

Scholarships are to be used for full-time educational programs leading to industry licensure or certificate, or postsecondary degrees. Grants can be used to further careers without attending college.

 

Applications should be completed and returned to the student’s Great Oaks counselor by April 23, 2009.

 

Qualifications for Applying

 

The applicant must:

 

1.   Be a full-time student enrolled in a Great Oaks workforce development program and qualify for graduation.

2.   Have 95% attendance.

3.   Be successful in her/his career/technical program.

4.   Have need for financial aid.

5.   Have a plan to pursue a career that is related to her/his career pathway (Automotive & Power Technology, Business Technology and Marketing, Communications Technology, Construction and Maintenance, Consumer and Community Service, Environmental Science and Agriculture, Health, Industry and Engineering, Information Technology).

6.   Have good character and citizenship.

7.   Have a 2.5 grade point average in lab and academic classes combined.
