Great Oaks Education Foundation presents scholarships and grant awards to Class of 2007
Each year the Great Oaks Education Foundation provides scholarships and grants to deserving Great Oaks students. Scholarships are used by recipients to further their education. Grant recipients may use their awards in to further their career, whether for additional training, tools, or what ever they may need to be successful. This year the students below received awards, which were presented during the Senior Recognition Ceremony for each campus.
Diamond Oaks Scholarships:
Jimmiea Harrison, of Mt. Healthy and Computer Assisted Drafting. Jimmiea will study Industrial Design at The Ohio State University in the fall. She is the recipient of the Donn Hershberger Award.
Jessica Schultz, of William Henry Harrison High School and Health Technology. Jessica plans to earn a bachelor’s degree and become a registered nurse. She also plans to continue her education so that she can become an RN in the labor and delivery unit.
Ashley Schwab, of Oak Hills and Interactive Media. Ashley has been accepted into the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP (Design, Art, Architecture and Planning) Program where she will study Fashion Design.
Diamond Oaks Grants
Tiffany Seymour, of Oak Hills and Health Technology. Tiffany plans to go to college and become a registered nurse. Her ultimate goal is to work in the trauma unit at University Hospital.
Kristin Wirfel, of Oak Hills and Cosmetology. Kristin plans to use the grant to help pay for tuition and books as she studies International Spa Operation and Management at Hocking College in the fall.
Harold Dwayne Young, Jr., of Mt. Healthy and Veterinary Assisting. Harold plans become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and eventually own a practice where he will offer health care for animals as well as grooming services and obedience training.
Laurel Oaks Scholarships
Jillian Pollock, of Wilmington and Equine Science and Management. Jillian will enter the Agricultural Technical Institute at Ohio State University and major in Equine Science and Agricultural Business programs. After that, she will transfer to a four year program in additional equine studies or enter the Contemporary Equine Therapies program at Hocking College. Jillian intends to become an equine massage therapist or an equine chiropractor.
Jaclyn Stagge, of Lynchburg-Clay and Health Technology. Jaclyn will attend Southern State Community College and major in the Medical Assistant program.
Courtney Thompson, of Lynchburg-Clay and Health Technology. Courtney plans to get jump on college by entering Southern State’s Super Start program this summer. She will attend Sinclair Community College in the fall and earn an associate’s degree in radiology.
Laurel Oaks Grants
Dakota Current, of Fairfield and ISS: Software/Business Management and Administrative Services. Dakota plans to earn a bachelor’s degree from Shawnee State University and continue his education at the University of Cincinnati Law School.
Nicole Green, of Wilmington and Early Childhood Education. Nicole plans to study Speech Pathology at Miami University so that she can have a career as a speech therapist.
Christina Hehl, of Lynchburg-Clay and Cosmetology. Christina’s plans include working at Mitchell’s Salon and Day Spa so that she can take advantage of the education program the company provides. When she has developed a strong foundation, she would like to work in cruise ship day spas.
Live Oaks Scholarships
Angela Guevremont, of Goshen and Health Technology. Angela will attend Northern Kentucky University to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Future plans call for going back to NKU to earn a master’s degree.
Tonya Roberts, of Batavia and Health Technology. Tonya’s career ladder includes earning certification as an LPN, then continuing her education to earn an associate’s degree in nursing, then a bachelor’s and a master’s, and eventually becoming a gynecologist.
Chad Schoettle, of Glen Este and Interactive Media. Chad will attend Antonelli College. He plans to become an animator and work on movies. Chad received the Robin Hoelle Award.
Live Oaks Grants
C. Brandon Kidwell, of Milford and Interactive Media. Brandon plans to major in game design in college and become a game artist or designer.
Cynthia Kilbourne, of Amelia and Health Technology. Cynthia will attend UC Clermont’s Pre-Nursing program and work in a hospital or doctor’s office when she has her degree.
Stacy Lucas, of Amelia and Health Technology. Stacy plans to attend UC Clermont College and become a medical assistant. After that, she plans to work and continue her education to become a physician’s assistant and ultimately a pediatrician.
Scarlet Oaks Scholarships
Rashonna Duett, of Sycamore and Cosmetology. Rashonna plans to attend Kent State and major in fashion merchandising, business management and international business. She also plans to work in the salon to help pay for college expenses.
Joshua Hawthorne, of Oak Hills and Law Enforcement. Joshua plans to earn a degree in criminal justice and become a SWAT Team officer in the future.
Arielle Willis, of Winton Woods and Health Technology. Arielle’s goals are to complete a bachelor’s degree in nursing, work as an RN in a trauma center, then earn a master’s at the University of Cincinnati so that she can be a nurse anesthetist.
Scarlet Oaks Grants
Josh Boehner, of Deer Park and E-Marketing. Josh will attend DeVry University and major in Network Systems Administration.
Josh Carnes, of Madeira and Welding. Josh will use the grant to purchase welding tools that he needs in order to establish a career.
DeShawn Thompson, of Winton Woods and Digital TV Production Technician. DeShawn will attend college to further prepare for a career where he can use his skills in production, marketing and advertising.
