Kathy Wright, a 1999 graduate from Glen Este High School, has been employed at UC since the summer of her junior year at Live Oaks. She completed her senior year on placement and has continued employment at the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine since graduation.  She also is attending UC to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology. As a research assistant, Wright is responsible for checking the work of the employees, reassigning work as required, coordinating all of the husbandry work in the facility and working with investigators to maintain their animals. “I use the knowledge that I gained from the Animal Science program everyday while working at the University of Cincinnati,” she said. “After attending Live Oaks, I realize how hard it would be to find

a job without the training I received there.”

Kathy was the 2000 FFA National Proficiency Award winner in Small Animal Placement and was selected as the outstanding animal care student in the United States.
