Lois Shuler--1986 Animal Science--Blanchester HS

Lois Shuler, a 1986 graduate from Blanchester High School, is reaching an 18-years milestone at the Medical School in the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine. She started at the University on job placement during her senior year of high school and advanced along her career path to her current position as the facility’s manager. She manages personnel and their training, maintains the facilities to meet industry standards and coordinates activities with the principal investigators for many of the research protocols. “I have no doubt that had it not been for the Live Oaks Animal Science program those last two years of high school, I would not be where I am today,” shared Lois.  “I have always had an interest in the care and well-being of animals and through the Animal Science program, I was able to expand this interest into the research field, “ she continued.  Lois continues to be an integral part of Live Oaks, serving as a member of the Animal Science and Management Industry Advisory Committee and hiring students to work in the UC labs.
