
Fred Medlock In 1973, the new Great Oaks offered a way to learn a career while finishing high school. This appealed to Finneytown student Fred Medlock, who felt he “needed direction and a goal.” Fred enrolled at Laurel Oaks in Advanced Farm Management. “I was a city kid who jumped into Farm Management,” he said. ”My instructor asked me how I intended to be a farmer without a farm since farm management is all about utilizing your resources.” After graduating in 1975, Fred enlisted in the Coast Guard. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics at Embry Riddle University and began flying. “Most importantly, Great Oaks taught me that goals are attainable through hard work and education,” he stated.
Fred Medlock retired from United Airlines and spends most of his free time managing his 10-acrefarm in Adams County, Ohio.
