Automotive - Ford ASSET / Associates Degree (UC)


Automotive-Ford ASSET Associate Degree (UC) www.fordasset.com.

 

Gain skills in major automotive service & repair, vehicle inspection, cooling system service & repair, basic gasoline engine operations, automotive electrical system service & repair, brake system service & repair and suspension systems.  Bumper to bumper automotive service.  Ford STST (Service Technician Specialty Training) Certification.  Work on current Ford and Lincoln Mercury vehicles.  Includes theory & lab activities.  Program is accredited by North Central Association/Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, www.ncacasi.org and the National Automotive Technicians Foundation, www.natef.org.

Length of Course:  1350-hours (estimated) for technical training at Scarlet Oaks

                               2000-hours (estimated) at a Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealership

                               46 credit hours at Raymond Walters-UC, www.rwc.uc.edu

                               Students work through five, twenty-week training modules, 10 weeks at Scarlet Oaks and 10 weeks at a sponsoring dealership.

 

Days/Times:  Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM

  • Scarlet Oaks for five, 10 week semesters.  
    Work full-time at a sponsoring dealership for five, 10 week semesters

 Start Date:  September 15, 2008        End Date:   September 10, 2010

 

Tuition:  $5,100 a year at Scarlet Oaks

Books/Tools:  $575 Books and $2600 for tools (estimated)

Tuition:  $3,577 a year at Raymond Walters College (UC)

Books: $500 (estimated) a year

According to the Department of Labor, “the outlook for automotive technicians is projected to grow faster than average for all occupations over the next decade.  Employment of automotive service technicians is expected to increase 14% between 2006-2016.  Job opportunities are expected to be very good for those who complete high school or post-secondary automotive programs and earn Automotive Service Excellence certifications”, www.ase.com.

 

According to the Department of Labor, “median hourly wage-and-salary earnings of automotive technicians and mechanics, including commission, were $16.24 in May 2006.  The middle 50% earned between $11.96 and $21.56 per hour”.
