Have them:
- Write things down.
- Draw pictures, charts and maps to increase understanding.
- Use mind-mapping.
- Use planners, organizers or goal-setting charts.
- Highlight important points with color (but not in books which they've borrowed!)
- Try visualizing ideas and facts in their mind.
- Have them change places in the room while studying, to get a different perspective.
- When they need to, revise, read over, and recopy notes.

Is your teen’s learning style auditory?
Have them:
- Make use of sound.
- Talk things through as they learn them, with a friend or tutorial group.
- Get a friend to read aloud to them.
- When they have to learn facts, they can recite them or even sing them aloud.
- Find out if they study best in silence, or with music playing in the background.

Have them:
- Move around as they learn and revise.
- Work through problems physically.
- Mentally review what they've been studying while they're swimming or jogging.
- Use models and machines when they can.
- Take plenty of breaks while studying.
