The Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development- Public Safety Services is accredited by the National Professional Qualifications System (NPQS), previously the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications. Accreditation serves as an affirmation that the certification courses of PSS meet the standards of excellence as defined by the accrediting body. Accreditation followed by a period of documentation and a site visit by representatives of the accrediting body, in which our instructor qualifications, training and examination policies, exam security, drill field and classroom facilities, and other issues related to assuring quality training were evaluated.
The accreditation process may be viewed as a test that Public Safety Services itself had to pass before approval (accreditation) could be awarded. This approval was reaffirmed in July, 2002. Because PSS is accredited, its students qualifying for certification in any professional qualifications course are eligible for concurrent national certification by NPQS. Accreditation also makes it easier for a student receiving any PSS certification to receive similar credit from another accredited state fire training agency if he or she should in the future move to another state.
