Instructor Program

2735-Fire Instructor I (Public Safety Fire and EMS Instructor)
A course designed to train participants to teach a class from a prepared lesson plan. This course introduces the student to the concept of utilizing training aids to enhance his/her presentation, how to properly select these training aids and how to use the training aid selected. The student will give several presentations during the course; all leading to the final fifteen minute graded presentation on the final day of class. Fire Instructor I is compliant with NFPA 1041, Professional Qualifications for Fire Instructor (2002 edition). This course meets and exceeds the requirements to test and certify under the Ohio DPS system. This course is part one of the Ohio requirements for Public Safety Instructor.)

2736-Fire Instructor II- Prerequisite is Fire Instructor I
Provides the Fire Instructor I with the next level of understanding for the training of personnel. During the course, the students are divided into groups, each of which is responsible for the development of a lesson plan to be presented to the class on the final day. Fire Instructor II is compliant with NFPA 1041, Professional Qualifications for Fire Instructor (2002 edition). This course is part two and the final component to complete the Ohio requirements for Public Safety Instructor.

Fire Instructor III- Prerequisite is Fire Instructor II
Provides the Instructor II with the concepts of being a program manager. Topics include: program management, instructor development, instructional delivery, safety, and assessment. Ideal for training officers and training coordinators.
