State Aid - Ohio Board of Regents

Nurse Education Assistance Loan Program (NEALP) - Based on need. Maximum loan is $3,000. Borrower may be eligible for debt cancellation of 20% per year for five years (100%) if borrower is employed in the clinical practice of nursing in the State of Ohio. Important deadlines apply. Eligibility requirements for this loan are as follows:

1. Be an Ohio resident.

2. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

3. Be accepted for enrollment in or be enrolled for at least half-time study in an Ohio Board of Nursing approved pre-licensure as a practical nurse or a registered nurse; or be accepted for enrollment in or be enrolled for at least half-time study in an Ohio post-licensure nursing education program. These programs include: LPN to RN; RN to BSN or MSN; Nursing Doctorate; MSN or MS with a major in Nursing; PHD in Nursing or DNSC.

4. Show evidence of intent to engage in the practice of nursing in the State of Ohio after graduation.

5. Not be in default or owe a refund to any Federal Financial Aid program.

6. Maintain an academic record that places the student in good academic standing within the institution.
