Batavia BPA elects officers

Officers for the Batavia High School/Great Oaks chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) have been elected for the 2017-2018 school year. They include seniors Brett Moles – President, Mitch Davis – Vice President, Taylor DeVito – Secretary, Will Scheffter – Treasurer, Colton Young – Historian, and Nicholas DeFrank – Parliamentarian. In addition, Bryce Zenni is the junior representative and Megan Wallace and McKenna Ording are the sophomore representatives.

The officers recently organized a yellow ribbon campaign during Military Appreciation Night on August 25th.  Additional community service will benefit Special Olympics, Teen Driver Safety, and the Susan B. Komen Foundation.

BPA members are in the Great Oaks Legal Management satellite program at Batavia High School. They are busy planning fundraisers to finance BPA competitive events.  The students are trying to raise the $15,000 they will need to compete at the regional, state and national level this year.

Chapter president Brett Moles said, “We hope to have the opportunity to talk to the community and area organizations about the long-term benefits we receive through participation in business classes and the BPA organization.  We are having a parent information night for new and current BPA students on September 14th and we have contacted the Batavia Rotary Club about attending a meeting.”

According to their teacher and chapter advisor Angie Kovacs, we can expect a lot from this group again this year.  She said, “The chapter elected a great team of officers.  I am looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish.”

Business Professionals of America is the leading student organization for members pursuing careers in business, information technology and other related careers.
