Miami Trace FFA Alumni group holds annual consignment sale

contributed by Meri Grace Carson

The Miami Trace FFA Alumni, in cooperation with the Wendt Group, Inc, held the annual Consignment Sale on Friday, September 1st, 2017 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds.  This was the second sale where the FFA Alumni worked in partnership with the Wendt Group, Inc.  Auctioneers, Nick Cummings and Kevin Wendt, have been long time supporters of the agricultural community in this area and continue to assist the Miami Trace FFA Alumni in provided funds to support the high school members.   For this, the FFA would like to extend a special thank you to the Wendt and Cummings family for their efforts in ensuring the success of the auction.  The Wendt group committed 1% of the gross earnings to the Miami Trace FFA Alumni.  Despite the weather forecast, this year’s sale totaled approximately $430,000 with more than 300 registered bidders present at the sale. A special thanks to Joe Geesling for donating all of the profits from his Oliver forklift to the Miami Trace FFA.

The Miami Trace FFA Alumni is a small group of supporters in the community with the mission of supporting the FFA youth at Miami Trace.  The earnings from this sale along with other fundraising contributions are utilized to  support the members of FFA throughout the year.  For instance, the group provides approximately $10,000-$20,000 in scholarships each year to graduating seniors pursuing further education.  In addition, money is also donated to FFA members attending Ohio FFA Camp and the Washington Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. during the summer.

The Miami Trace FFA chapter, a satellite program of Great Oaks Career Campuses, is extremely grateful for all the efforts on behalf of the alumni to support their endeavors and would like to thank all the individuals who donated their time and equipment to help make this tradition a success.
